Reading Stranger in a Strange Land felt like stepping into a mirror—one that doesn’t just reflect your face, but your fears, hopes, and quiet triumphs. The poetry is raw and evocative, not just beautiful for beauty’s sake, but meaningful. It captures the ache of loss and the warmth of connection with a kind of honesty that made me pause more than once. Each piece felt like a conversation—sometimes gentle, sometimes jarring—but always sincere. And then the stories. They’re not just tales; they’re lived experiences wrapped in fiction. Each piece felt like a conversation—sometimes gentle, sometimes jarring—but always sincere. If you’re someone who’s ever stood at a crossroads, looked back with tenderness, and forward with curiosity, Stranger in a Strange Land is more than a read—it’s a companion.

Stranger in a Strange Land is a doorway into Ken's past. Its pages exude nostalgia, memories, and a deep love for places and people, past and present. It's perhaps one of the most intimate and profound ways to get to know a person: listening to their stories, whether in poetry or fiction, and Ken is giving us the opportunity with this, his first book. It's truly worth a chance.

These poems move gracefully between the deeply personal and the universal, drawing from themes of love, memory, longing, and the human condition. His verses invite the reader into landscapes both real and imagined—stormy balconies, enchanted forests, childhood homes, and the inner recesses of memory and grief. What makes this collection stand out is its emotional sincerity. The poems do not shy away from pain, yet they are equally capable of tenderness and wonder. The reflections on family, loss, and belonging resonate with authenticity, while the explorations of myth, nature, and fantasy give the book a timeless, almost otherworldly dimension.

I'm not an astute connoisseur of poetry but I've read my fair share. I was impressed by Ken's ability to turn a phrase, to throw down a metaphor that rings true or conjure an image with just a few words. There's just a feeling that runs through most of his work that he's searching, maybe searching for the truths in his life or just searching for understanding of the little things. I got to say it pulled me in. I'd absolutely recommend it to a friend.

The window depicted in the cover image of the book "Stranger in a Strange Land" lets you enter first with your imagination and then, word by word, into the author's past and present. Ken Thomas, through his narrative filter, shares poems and short stories that depict people, encounters, experiences, and landscapes of his past and present. The book's nostalgic architecture reveals the author's strong ability to view the world with profound sensitivity. I highly recommend reading it...

It's no easy feat to one's innermost thoughts, feelings and experiences into words and then to craft those into accessible vignettes in which others may find themselves. This is a valiant and commendable effort by one who has earned this opportunity to be recognized and celebrated.

"Stranger in a Strange Land" is not just a book to read, it is something you feel, you live, you recognize inside yourself. Even if I don’t know the language perfectly, every poem reached me with clarity and strength. There is a deep honesty in these verses, a way of looking at the human soul with tenderness but also with courage. Some pages touched me deeply, as if they were speaking directly to me, revealing reflections and weaknesses I thought were only mine. Ken Thomas writes with a clear and genuine voice, able to mix sadness and hope, reflection and light. It is a collection that stays with you, that comforts and moves you, giving the feeling of being seen, understood, and loved through words.

I enjoyed reading this book of poetry. It is hard to believe this is the author's first book. The poems use creative phrases and interesting metaphors that helped paint clear picture in my mind. Some poems made me stop & think, while others connected with me on a more personal level. I would be interested in reading more from this author in the future.
