Reflections on my Father

Only one piece of advice he ever gave me

Short, and to the point:

“Never get old, it sucks!”

I chuckled at that one,

“Okay, Dad, I’ll try not to.”

Was my flippant response.

His ashes have long blown away in the wind

From where we deposited them

At the base of some random evergreen tree

In Mt. Rainier National Park,

He wouldn’t even allow us a gravestone

To visit

That man.

That was my father.
